Alright so i justed join this forum and my main reason wa sim looking into getting a used 2000 blaster. What are some common problems with this bike anything major? what benifits does it have? also im getting it for 500 decent shap has a k/n filter dg bumpers bars and fmf powercore. it just needs a head gasket is this a good price for it? thank you

Tom.

welcome. 500 is pretty cheap for a blaster, at least around my area. The biggest issue with the blasters is probably the oil injection system. $30 for a block off kit and premix your gas and your good to go. great thing about a blaster is that parts are cheap and easy to come by.

very true. A head gasket, maybe like 20 bucks? and youll put one in, in about, say 2 minutes. lol you just need to take the seat+tank off, and there are 6 nuts i beleive, remove them slide the head off, slide the gasket out, slide the new one on, head back on, put the bolts in on all different sides, and torque them to factory specs.

the drums suck if you dont clean them or take care of them. i dont have a problem and i ride in dirt, mud, rock, and sand. i would recomend the oil block off kit like mentioned above. it may already have one. and also a shorty rear brake cable.

I am starting to think I overpayed for our Blasters.... Welcome to the forum you are in the right place for information.

Yhea thats not bad, but if you look around, you will always be able to eventually fnid a better deal, like I found an idiot selling a 04, for 350 and it needed a new piston and bore, that is 150 so you would spend 500 to get an 04 with the hydrolic brakes, and less use. But that is a good price.

Thanks for the replys the blaster is pretty beat up cosmetically and such so im sur eif i get it you will hear from me often. I do like that it has a fmf fatty pipe and powercore 2. should i rejet it and do these help much, i knwo on my bike they did dramatically.

yea thats a pretty good price man i paid 150 for mine and had to replace as few things on it but its w/e look at it now its pretty ,much almost the way i want it

I paid $450 for my Blaster. It started up good and sounded fine but I couldn`t ride it because it had no brakes. I get home and it wont start so I called the guy I bought it from and he said he sprayed starting fluid in it and it needed a complete engine rebuild. I`m gonna think twice about those "good deals" next time I buy something. $450 was technically a good deal though.

defenitly not a bad price man, and it dont cost all that much to get it running like champ again, i paid 2000 for mine, but it only had a driveway ride on it, the guy bought it for his girlfreind, brand new, they took it off the truck, she popped the clutch and rear ended the truck, and never got on it again, one little ding in the bumper

yeah i found a blaster for 50 bucks one time didnt have spare money at the time but i would have found it if i would have new he took it to the scrape yard with a load of steel what an adiot he must not know ebay and what he could have got i was pissed i needed all the parts it needed new piston and chain and sprockets

The cylinder in my Blaster that I paid $450 for was all scarred up and you could wiggle the crank all over the place and the kickstarter slipped about every time. My compression was at 110 though.
