hi all, I just bought a 2002 blaster from a friend for 200 bucks. He told me the piston rings blew in it, but after I took it apart, the piston itself is bad. So, I took it down to the local Yamaha store, and they took one look at it and the rest of the engine and said I needed a complete overhaul, which is about $650. They said I needed to check the jet size in the carb because something had to make it blow. I am curious, how to I do that? I took the carb bowl apart and I THINK I found the jet. Just need some pointers.. thanks:)

your main jet is right under the little plastic peice when you take the bowl off, take it out and on one side of it, it will say what size it is! and the small jet you see down inside the crab is your pilot jet, but is there any mods done to the bike? if its all stock then the jets should probally be stock jets! but the first thing i would look at is if the oil injection is still hooked up? because it could have clogged and caused it to blow! also a worn crank with bad bearings and seals could of caused to much piston slap and caused it also, just check everything out! hope this helps, let us know!!

the motor has been rebuilt once, thats what Yamaha told me. It had a wiseco piston and a hot rods rod. it does have the injection, which I am going to take off, but it had been using the oil, the guy I bought it from told me he filled it up when he got it. I do plan to take it off though and go to premix, thanks for the info.

I took off the little plastic piece, but I see no jet. I took out the pilot jet though, and its a 32.5.. I'm new to this sorta stuff, so sorry if I seem idiotic.

I was just wondering about the oil injection.how do you know if it is working.I would like to check that out on my 2002 blaster .

I have no idea how to check it, but I am having mine disabled, and going to premix. Don't mean to sound like the rest of the guys on here, but I seriously think that is way safer than having to rely on a pump to protect my motor.
