hi everyone,

wanted to get some advice regarding the two stroke oil injection plug that i just got for my 1993 blaster. Can someone give me tips about installing and then tuning the blaster to make it run the best.

Limited budget and knowledge regarding two strokes.

does the plug need to be sealed with rtv or just fit in the hole of the case?

can i just block off and or remove the oil reservoir on blaster?

anything else i should be cautious of? thanks in advance
james

Welcome to the forum, dude! An oil-injection block-off is a pretty straightforward install. Did you say that you got a PLUG? I haven't seen this method of doing it. Most oil injection removal kits come with a plate that screws down over the hole in the engine case where the oil pump used to go. The plate covers the hole, and a gasket seals it all. Some Loctite Red helps to hold the new bolts in place, but... In the case of just plugging the hole... I'd seal the plug with some RTV silicone and peen it in place. You might be better off buying a blockoff kit, with the plate. It's cheap and a lot less worring about leaks.

To get rid of the oil injection, remove the engine's right side cover, unclip the plastic drive gear from the oil pump, unbolt the oil pump, and unhook the oil lines. You can unbolt the oil tank from the frame, tape up the oil switch wires out of the way, and toss out the tank, lines, pump, pump drive gear, etc. Then, just bolt the blockoff plate over the hole, put the cover back on, refill the gearbox with lube, and you're almost done! Be sure to completely cover the barbed fitting on the side of the carburetor, where the oil line used to go. This is another reason to buy a blockoff kit; they come with a small neoprene cap that does the job A-OK. If you don't have the cap, just seal up the hole, and you'll be fine. Drain all straight gasoline from the tank, fill it with fresh pre-mixed 32:1, and let 'er run! I had a lot to say here, but this whole task won't take an hour to do...
