New top end need help

I'm in oklahoma. And I'm trying. Collage comes before the 4 wheeler tho. So idk but would compression or leak really be what's stopping it from trying to start at all?

What happened to make you think you needed to replace the piston? You're really going to have to get answers to the basic questions or replace parts until it's fixed. You said a few things that are contradicting; you blew your top end but you were just planning to over bore for performance reasons, is the biggest red flag. You can often re-ring with a hone to bring performance back up near peak levels if you do it when you feel power loss but once it's to a point that the compression is so low it's hard to start, it need bored and an oversize piston is needed. Needing a new piston can be found with a compression tester or obvious damage to the cylinder, piston or rings. If your cylinder was good and you didn't test the compression, how did you know you needed a piston? If you had someone with the tools to accurately a cylinder, you probably have access to a compression tester. A lead tester is more of a specially tool, I understand locating on can be a little harder. Most of what it takes to build one can be found laying around, or at least suitable substitutes. A low pressure gauge is the exception and probably most of the cost (I didn't have to buy anything when I made one, so I'm not 100% sure) but if you can get together everything except the gauge, I'll send you a good low pressure gauge for free. I bought several Ashcroft 0-15psi gauges a year or so ago at a good deal, just for this purpose. Look at one of the threads on building a leak tester and see what parts you can come up with. I might be able to help with more of it if you can't get ahold of all the parts you need.

The rings were shot half of them seemed to be gone and you could see the blow by marked on the piston. It didnt take alot of diagnostics to see the rings were bad the reason I changed the piston out to is the old one had a small chip at the top. I don't know what caused the rings to wear so bad but they were ridicoulus

The old piston had a piece missing at the top?

That's actually kind of scary, did you find the piece or is it still milling around in the crank area? I own 6 quads and 5 of them are 2 smokers, that is the scariest thing I have read on this entire thread. You need to find that piece no matter the size, if it was big enough to see it was missing it is big enough to do some real damage in the lower end of your engine. Change the oil and run it through a painters screen funnel if you can.

If nothing comes out that way, pull the motor and with all the case oil empties, spray 2 or 3 cans of carburetor cleaner into the motor while holding it upside down best you can to get all the metal debris out of the crank just in case the piece broke off and got grounded up inside. Again, if you let the carb cleaner drain onto some paper towels or something just wait for them to dry and see what you have.

If it were my motor, that is what I would be doing right now anyhow...

Causes for ring wear:

Lack of warm up period.
Lack of lubrication.
No air filter, or poor one.
Lean mixture, detonation/overheating.

That chip could have been a burn out.

If the rings were in such poor condition that you could see the wear with the naked eye, then the bore would be pretty well be way out of specs.

The new piston set snug as a bug trust me the bore was good ill try to get a compression tester and leak down test as soon as possible
