I'm new the 2 smoke world and looking upgrade my pipe when the motor comes back from the shop.

Motor Work:
240 kit with new bore/hone (which ever is needed) and 72.5mm piston

Shop said that stock reed cage with Boysen reeds will work the best and last a while, jet kit, but I'm lost when it comes to other mods. Air box mod/Pod filter? Exhaust for low-end trails and small amount of sand (maybe F7?), timing mod?

What is the thought here - just do all the mods at once and jet it after or what? I want something fun in the woods as the 'fast' bike is a 500cc twin Warrior.

Any help is appreciated and I want a good trail setup, not something that is gonna be upgraded in the future, just a good strong setup, thanks!

good trail set up? vforce 3 reeds, uni filter, stock air box with no lid or acfm air box if its in your budget, f7/lrd/power pros/ dynoport pipe, 34mm carb, +4 timing maybe even only +2 for a trail machine, have the head rechamberd for the mods any maybe even a agressive trail port done by ken oconnor..... suspension upgrades atleast decent shocks and it will be plenty fast on the trails and straight lines

I meant to put in my original post that it has already been ported. Now, the head is at the shop getting a new piston and came with the 240 kit, does the head have to be chambers for the mods you listed?

Carnz, the motor came out of an EX500 Kawasaki, it was too cheap to pass up, really was an easy build once I figured out how I was gonna do the frame rails, the gusset's are dramatically big at 1/4" thick but I can always lighten them up with some holes. The guys over at EX500-Riders forum were a big help when building the PVC pipe air box and sizing out the fuel pump.

Alright guys, the following is what I feel will be the 'right' thing to do, I am gonna pass on the rechambered head, thats an easy one for the future if I want more.

240bb kit w/72.5 forged piston
ported/polish (by previous owner-having shop check it out)
+2 timing
no toil filter
no lid air box
F7 full exhaust (hopefully she wont get hot!)
Works front shocks (need rebuilt but on the bike)
Oil pump junk removed

Now I need input on a carb, shop here says a stock carb and reed cage with Boysen reeds would be great and reliable? Thoughts?
A 34mm would do the job with the air box boot mod?
And lastly fuel - I normally run premium, is that gonna be enough with the above?

a stock carb is gonna hold your 240 back. i think a 34 pj would be good with your setup. as for fuel, you wont require any higher octane since you havent raised the compression any. the timing will affect this but the high test pump gas should be fine for that

Well I picked up an older power pros today for $5.... let me know if anyone is parting with a 34mm pj or good silencer... this thing should come together QUICK!
