I just got an '03 Blaster, my first quad. I've riden dirt bikes and street bikes for the past 5 years but this is completely different. When I got it I figured it'd be pretty easy to tune and make it a little bit quicker. Boy was I wrong. I've never touched a 2-stroke before (aside from a chainsaw) and I'm lost.

The only riding I do is open trails in South Georgia, so I'm dealin with sand and a little mud after a rain. I have decent tires right now, 21 in the front and 18 in the rear because theres not too many times where I'm wound out in 6th gear. I spend most my time in 4th due to lack of straight trail and a bountiful amount of turns. I'm not sure whether I should upgrade on shocks and width for better handling or try to increase mid-range power. If anybody has any suggestions I'd be more than happy to listen.

welcome and you're going to love it here!
A couple easy mods for a noticable difference, buy yourself a good exhaust, take the airbox cover off and get some new handlebars.
just stick around and read and you'll find some good mods =] good luck

Welcomes to a newb from a newb. I got my blaster with a durablue +4 axle. I can't believe how well it handles, going around turn with a simple lean will just cause the back end to kick out instead of want to tip. I have tons of confidence with it, almost more than I had with my 400ex.

Welcome to the group. I like you don't have any experience with 2-strokes, outside of lawn equipment, but the guys here have good ideas and insight. Browse around, I'm sure you can find some1 with the same questions you have, and the mod's you're thinking about making. I've found that I'm gonna need some major $$$$$ to get my blaster on par with a lot of the group members.
