My little brother sold me his 98 blaster for $200 bucks. He needed the money and I needed a project so I figured what the hell. They put a new top end in it and had her running good from what he told me. They were riding it and then it just stopped randomly. It is not getting any spark. He told me that its probably the CDI box so I ordered one. Its on the way as we speak.

Basically im new to this two smoke thing. I know the basics of it and am pretty handy with a wrench so I can figure it out as I go.

What can I do to this thing to make it better for a fairly big dude like myself? Bigger wheels, suspension, swing arm, etc ?
Basically where do I start to build her up to make it fun?

Thanks!

First things first is your bugdet and your riding style before anyone can suggest aftermarket parts. if we can get the budget i gurantee you we can find the best bang for buck!

Best bang for your buck is reading up on the stickies at the top of each forum page on this site so you can catch up on all the little things that are easy to do yourself.....like just about everything on a blaster I:I

Good luck!

The budget is anything that is not ridiculously priced for the benefit it gives you. I want it to be fast and able to be handled without just standing up in the air. So I guess an extended swing arm is a good place to start.

What do I start with? Porting, reeds, pipe, suspension, clutch, etc?

I ordered a performance CDI box to replace the failed one but I dont know if that really makes a huge difference over stock.

Ill keep scanning the stickies and other posts. Lots of interesting stuff here!

Thanks!

i am new to blasters. i just picked up a 2001 that is bored 50over. has and aftermarket exhaust pro circuit i believe. i do my riding down in the Ozark Mountains so the trails can be really rough at some points. I just had to put a fair amount of money into my SUV because of these back roads down here. So what im getting at is i would like advise on what to do to make my quad rocky trail ready

you kinda answered your own question, with mods, but just check the for sale ads on here and search the site many people ask similar questions and you can see what people do on budgets
