Hey guys,
I purchased a 2002 Blaster back in the summer of 02 Brand New from Columbia Motorsports in Columbia,CT.I have used it off and on over the past 7 years but most of the time it has sat in my shed.A few weeks ago i was told about a trip some of my family members are doing and its involves alot of ATV riding in canada.I have not had a vacation in some time and decided to go for it!Anyways i tryed running my quad for the first time in years today. It obviouslly would not start.I took the carb apart and cleaned it thourghly. The Blaster started on the first kick and i did'nt even have the choke out.Anyways i decided to look into getting some Tune-up stuff for it,as i have had it 7 years without any real kind of maintance.Could you guys advise me of what you would recommend for my trip for maintnance.I would also not mind doing a few performance upgrades(pipe kit,Jet kit,etc???)....Let me know please.Thank You

Hey welcome yo site. Before you go on the trip i would check all your tires for dry rot. You will also want to change your trans oil, its been sitting a while, as well as the gas and injection oil. Get a new plug. Possibly a new chain, depending on how it looks, if nothing else lube it. You are also gonna want to grease all the fittings. It would also be a good idea to run it and ride it before the trip, just in case. Good luck m8

Thanks man...What do you recommend for tranny fluid.Although my blaster is stock...It does have the oil delete and key delte mod.But i really should take out all the gas out of the carb as its about 3 years old.The plug is original and tranny fluid probably is as well. The chain is in decent shape as i really have barely used it over the years.Maybe has 50 hours on it?Im gonna lube it.What would you recommend for tires?I would like to go with something decent for trails, maybe a little bigger?

For tranny fluid i use spectro clutch saver, never had any problems with it. Since the plug is original i would drain the tank and change the plug, the old gas will probably foul the plug. As for tires trail riders go for 20s or 22s. And you can get maxxis razers, itp holeshots, kenda klaws and a few others, they are all great tires.

Awesome will do!I will probably start the tune up this weekend. If going with bigger tires do i need to remove the black plastic fender liner things?Sorry i dont know all the terms yet.

Haha no its quite alright, dont be sorry, you will learn quick enough. and no you do not need to take anything off to run a 22 inch tire
