howz it everyone, i have a 1998 blaster. Love it but now i have problems... anyone can help. I rode it for 2 days and it ran awsome lots of power. Today i took it out and start it, i thought the choke was on because when i revved it, it sounds like its bogging and doesn't rev high. It also makes this loud banging noise in like 1 second intervals before it idles normal. Any suggestions, it was just riding perfectly and now the next day it wont even rev up high, sound like its hitting its rev limiter. I'll try and get a video up. heres the link

aurite another hawaii boy in town. So how does that tester work and what is it really called? I like that picture, i just trying to get into ulua fishing, bought one dirt cheap nitro pole so i start with something cheap. If you every can help me fix my quad, let me know. Its so wierd because it was riding cherry the first 2 days and all of a sudden it does that.. Also on the clutch lever side, theres alittle box that has 2 wires comming out with a rubber casing around it, i pulled the rubber casing out and one wire was snapped off. Anyone know whats that? ehh man also where do you get your spark plugs and stuff?? do we have a dealer for yamaha in hilo side?

welcome to the forum

well first off get your self a new spark plug.
then compare the spark of the new one to the old one.

PS make sure that your hand brake is not on if you have one or make sure that it is not stuck.

wheres the hand brake suppose to be, i read something about that wire that if its on, it wont let it rev up.

The only dealer I can think of in Hilo would be Cycle Sports on Kawili st. up the road from the dodge dealer going towards HCC. I don't know if there's any Yamaha dealer on Big Island I bought my Blaster from South Seas on Oahu. Yeah I got a couple Nitro extra heavy's and a Talon that I wrapped myself. My son is more into the Ulua fishing than I am, might go next month.

first welcome to the forum
you can get a spark plug at any auto part store just make sure you get NGK plugs, check your spark plug coil wires. also what i do is add a little eltro grease to the spark plug boot to help with continuity while fighting moisture ya know...

i got it running. It was that hand brake plug. It was connected but one of the wires broke off, so i fully disconnected it and it is back to normal, canj't wait to hit them mudd.. Thanks guys this site is awsome, the others are crap...

yah hilo side... do you think these blasters are worth 1,000 bucks stock? If i waited 2 more days i could of scored a blaster in waikaloa for 800 thats a deal and its a 1999. What is the retail on these bad boys?

hardly anywhere to ride, my uncle has some land pepekeo side so we ride there alittle, my gf is the one probably ride the quad so shes just a cruiser, i have my SDG 50 with a bad arse GPX125 motor. Thats why i bought the quad maybe a 4stroke would want to trade, something easier for her to drive and have fun. We usually use it to go fishing maybe hawaiian beaches side some times pick opihi paki( kalole side).. Any chance you guys getting rid of any reels? 4/0's if anything, i have a 6/0 but its hard for me to throw..

I'll ask around. my son just sold a few Newel reels for $160 each. You ever try casting a Newel?

i heard they cast super far and easy and they hold alot more line for a 4/0, damn that is a deal he sold them for.. Where do you guys ride?? also do you guys know how to make a cheap ramp? my trucks lifted alittle and only way i can man handle it in is on a nice hill, flat ground need 2 guys.

wasup johnny, sorry bro been busy lately. yeah the Newels cast far and fast, I always burn my thumbs when I cast them. they also come in a lot of different sizes. I don't know any spots to ride up here. I bought my blaster in 06 when I was living on Oahu and used to ride up at Kahuku a lot. since I moved back to the Big Island in Oct. of 06 I haven't gone ridin. I didn't bring the blaster home till 07. as for the ramp what kind of truck you got?
