I am in the market for a new chain, current one I am starting to not trust after cleaning it and some links grind or are very hard to move. Looking around on rockeymountain and denniskirks, i see some drive kits - being chain, with f'r sprockets. with alloy, steel, o-ring, x-ring, I'm a bit troubled in making a decision.

Now I want to go 14t for the front sprocket and keep the rear the same. Now you may ask why replace the rear? Well there are 3 teeth missing, weather that be bad or not I want a new one. So my question is what are the benefits of going aluminum over steel, besides being more expensive. My other question is x-ring, o-ring, or i guess you would call it non-ring chain? ..and what are the benefits with x/o-ring and there differences? :-/

Thanks a lot for the help :-[

well imo i change the sprockets everytime i change the chain that way they all wear the same... i also dont like running alluminum with steel chains. its my thought that they would wear differently and cause problems later. the only difference i know of between o-ring and x-ring chains are the seals. o ring seals only seal in one place at the edge of the ring. while x ring chains seal in two places making a better seal and keeping the lubrication in longer. i will be running a no ring chain it doesnt take but a couple seconds every time you ride to spray some lube on it and it rolls easier and the chain will not stretch as fast and they are hella cheap I:I
