I was hoping someone could help me out with a few questions I have about a new carb I was thinking about getting.
I am getting my motor back form Ken this week and he recommended going to a 34mm carb to match up with his port work. So am I going to purchase a new mikuni from jets are us for around $100. Not too bad of a price for a new carb! I am also going with a cfm airbox to match up to the new carb. I am currently running a stock carb, toomey pipe and a 310 jet. My questions are
1. Will my stock cable work with the 34mm carb? I assume they are the same
2. Where can I get an intake boot to match up with my vforce reed cage?
3. If anyone has this setup, what type of jetting are you running? Not asking exact setting, just wondering what range of jets I should get for tuning. Current jet is a 310.
Thanks for the help

The stock Blaster throttle cable will not work. As far as I know, any of the aftermarket boots will fit the same with the VF3. You may need a carb spacer to clear the clutch arm. I'm not sure on the jetting.

If youve deleted TORS and are running the TORS delete cable, its my understanding that cable will work. Im running the Vitos TORS Delete cable on my PWK 28 and it works great.

As for reed piece, dunno.

As for jetting, usually when you go up in carb size, you go down in jets. I dont think youll be running a 310 in that 34mm. Likewise its sometimes necessary to go down in jets just by getting porting work done, if youre using the same carb.

stock cable will not work with the 34mm carb, that boot will work fine, maybe some dremel work and maybe not, reed spacer will be needed to clear the clutch on and fit the carb, and dont quote me but jetting on the 34mm carbs with thee mentioned mods should be in the mid 100's i think.

I have no idea,

More on the reed spacer, technically for us all

If its in between the reed and cylinder it does what vs in between the reed and carb boot??

Will a boyedson one peice, i quess its called a rad valve with the reed cage and carb snout all one peice, will it also need a reed spacer or does it clear the clutch.

Assuming the positioning of the spacer i guess if you use a boyeson you could just use a longer rubber boot from the snout to the carberator.

should we tell that the airhorn on the back of the carb puts the filter where it hits the frame?? and then a cylinder spacer and a reed spacer and a bigger carb and it gets worse
Or is there a setup to fix this?

Sorry to hijack your thread but i cant answer these questions for you and think maybe someone needs to for your benefit.

Unless you have TORS delete cable won't work. As to jetting , if Ken suggested this set-up, he would be best to advise for starting point. Reed spacer should only be used if necessary to clear clutch, either someone with this carb or Ken should be able to advise you. The rest of the air box will require some creative engineering. Search around.

1. OK, I assume you are buying a TM flatslide if ken suggested aa 34mm. 100$ sounds cheap they usually run about 165 new so make sure you know what carb you are getting as the last time I talked to ken he was suggesting Mikuni 34mm TM flatslide carbs.

2. The stock cable will not work (unless you have previously installed a TORS delete which you will need to do if you have not)Here is the trottle cable you need. -

3. You will need to purchase an aftermarket intake boot for your new carb and VF3's. Do not buy a pro-design as they are made for VF2's and you will have to port the intake and the reed cage inner basket. I would suggest you buy a UPP as they are the cheapest and will work with your VF3's. You could also buy a Snyder but they are slightly more expensive.

4. Ken is who you need to talk to for jetting, if he did your work he will know a rough estimate with his suggested carb setup.
