so i just bought a blaster from a good friend of mine because he couldnt finish building it and was lazy so i now am the owner of a 2000 blaster. unfourtunately i now have to finish building the motor before i can ride it ha. He was in the process of putting a vitos 3mm stroker in it and broke some parts that i now have bought and am ready to put it together, my question is what carb should i run? i have the stock carb with the TORS removed but i dont think its going to be enough being a 3mm stroker thats bored .30 over, so how big of a carb do i need ? i also want to run a twist throttle is that going to cause any issues?

has it been ported? something around a 28 or 30 should work well, otherwise a 34 can be had for cheap

no it hasnt been ported but i know a guy that works at a machine shop that can port it for me, how much power will i gain from that? and if i run a 30 will i be able to run the stock boot or will i have to get a new one ? im trying to keep my costs on all this down i bought the bike cheap :)

stock boot. does your friend know anything about porting? theres a lot to gain there, but i would suggest saving up and waiting to get it done right!

ya hes worked in a machine shop for the last six years. is there anything in particular i should warn him about tho? and if i get it ported should i go with a 34 mm carb instead of the 30 ?
thanks for all the help

I would worry about the twist throttle as motions/ feedback of a 4 wheeler going through rough areas and turns are much different than motorcyles, the thumb control seems to be a better option to me providing a better grip on the bars and less to worry about esp. in a hard right turn

Do it right and get a portjob from the Builders on here like Kennedy, Wildcard, or Flotek....There is a bunch of stuff that alot of machine shops dont know about ....These builders port Banshees, blasters, and other 2 stroke and 4 stroke atvs.....So they know exactly what to do for each type of port job....and yes, i would run a Keihin PJ 34mm for it if you get a portjob....Does it have an aftermarket pipe??? if not, dont get an fmf, pro circuit, or DG...Power Pros, Toomey, and shearer are very good pipes....Someone else on this forum will have to describe each of the pipes since everyone on here thinks i dont know sh*t...lol Hope this helps dude...

well my question now is how much does a port job like that cost total and how long does it take? im trying to get this this built as soon as i can, and ya i have a pipe, its an lrd and its massive, not sure what kind of pipe but its adjustable and comes out the right side

i think thats one of the preferred pipes on here, just talk to some builders to get prices and turn around times, this is a busy season for them though so it might be a little longer than normal. and after the porting i'd definitely put a 34mm on it after the port
