ok so im new here and need some help....ive been around 4 wheelers alot but never a 2 stroke one, however i currently have a yz 2 stroke bike anyways ive found this 02 blaster for sale this guy wants 550 dollars for it he said it was stolen and when he got it back the motor was locked up and had to use penetrating oil to free it up enough to take the top end off said looks like they ran straight gas in it (he just mixed his gas) got new top end and put rings in and this is its current state still needs put back together.....my ? is do u guys think that the tranny is messed up any or anything with the top end or just the piston and whatnot and would it be worth it thanks for all the help in advance

well unless it's in really good shape and has alot of mods i wouldnt buy it cause u can get a running one for a couple hundred dollers more than that in good shape. and it depends if you buy it you need to probably take the engine apart and inspect it, if it's just the top end than i guess it would be worth it.
I'd guess the tranny would be ok, unless a chunk of a piston or ring got into the bottom end... Definately change the transmission oil first thing if you buy it. And try to talk him down a bit, then you won't loose any $$$ on anything if you have to part it out or put a lot of money into it.. Just a few thoughts...
umm def change the tranny oil like he said but it's very unlikely any big chunks of piston got in the tranny...but the only problem i think you may have is the crank at most?...maybe the crank bearing might have let go when blown up but probably unlikely...check if he honed the head by seeing if there are x grooves in the head...if not thats an easy fix with a honer that u can buy at auto zone for 20 bucks and check for worn out spots that are big enough to feel...then the head might need to be bored out...but i bet the bike is alright just put it together after checking the crank and head get it together...run it and change the oil
oh and another thing ask him if the piston shattered or not?...if it did then ask if he rinsed the like bottem end out..well the crank out with some sort of thing...cause there will be chunks of piston in the crank area and even if no chunks are there...there still may be like particles of it that will kill your crank bearing...atleast thats what i have realized...i always just rinsed that out with gas and kept doing it about 5-10 times
well the piston didnt shatter he just sent me a pic and the head does need to be honed he hasnt done that but....its not good pics but dont look like its in good condition
just plan on doing the next overbore with a new piston etc. appx $200 + labor (yours?)
$550 isn't a horrible price unless it is totally stock. I'd want it to have AT LEAST a decent pipe before buying someone else's problem.

it will be work...and probably not worth buying unless u want to do the project...ya know?..cause like they said it's probably not worth getting if it doesn't have mods because for a few hundred bucks more which your probably gunna end up spending on this one you can find one that is running and good condition for that same money....that's just my opinion
