Thanks for all the helpful advice. Was able to work on Blaster today with a friend of mine. We determind that eletrical was the CDI and I ordered one today. Also it seams my no compression theroy was wrong. The engine checked out with good compression. Cleaned the carb and all jets are good. So hopefully when the CDI comes in this week I will be riding my first ATV. I will let you know how it turns out.

Hey, glad to hear you're giving that Blaster a fighting chance. Let us know how it turns out!

Here's a couple tips... If that bike still has the TORS system on it, read up here on the forum about how to get rid of it. It will interfere with the ignition system and can create all kinds of headaches.

Also, how much compression does the engine have? It needs at least 100psi to run; 120psi or more can be considered 'healthy'. Lastly, you said the jets in the carburetor are OK. What size main jet is in there? (They're numbered) You'll need around a 270 if the airbox lid is still on, or about a 300 if the Blaster is running with no airbox lid. Hope that helps. The engine may start and run on stock jetting, but it won't run well and can blow if not re-jetted.

300 is kinda high with just the lid off , I run a fmf fatty and have no airbox and I'm running a 290 main . If you just have a stock bike and remove the airbox lid with a 300 it will be super rich . Although depending on your elevation it does change .
Stock main is a 230 . Toss in a 260 and do a plug chop and adjust from there.
Good luck bro

Compression was 120 psi with no leak down; not sure on the jets but there is no lid on the air box and it has a FMF pipe. I just removed the TORS so as soon as the CDI comes in I see what happens. By the way what's the oil mix for my 2001 Blaster; I see the oil injection has been unhooked.

I got my Blaster running last night but have fuel leaking out the carb. Float must be sticking or needle valve is worn out. Rode for about 15 mins today to see if the carb would clear up. It cut off and I haven't gotten started since. I order carb kit so hopefully it will fix all my issues. This was my first ride on a 2 stroke and it was fun while it lasted.
Question: will the lights work even if you don't have a key?

Was looking at your response to my jetting. I have stock jets in this 01 Blaster due to carb rebuild. It has FMF Gold Series SST exhaust, no lid on air box and .40 over piston. I saw someone metion a 260 and a 300 main jet. I also saw the term plug chop. . . not sure what that is. Right now the Blaster runs but wont idle correctly without having pilot screw only a 1/4 turn out which I know isn't right. It also starves for full on top end.
