In your dreams.
Need some tips on what kind of suspension to get for my rear arm. I am bottoming out way too much and its starting to irk me.

What kid of suspension would be good to go with? Not looking to change anything except the suspension. I have an '03 stock everything.

The YFZ450 rear shock has what you want.
It needs to be cut down and re-drilled but thats easy.
I have one to be had on the cheap if your interested.
It was too stiff for my weight.

All good choices although the 250r shock is suspect because of it's age unless you find one that's been re-built.

Yeah, and if you find a cheap 250r it's gonna be major cash to rebuild.
Pretty much any shock from all 4 wheelers will fit. Exception to many utilities and banshee.

I am about 235 and the Z400 shock that I put on mine is a huge improvement. Stock shock sagged bad when I would sit on it. The Z shock sags just a bit and is smooth when I bounce on the seat. Havent ridden with it yet but I am Sure it will be a great ride. Got it for around $50 shipped on ebay.

Yeah, maybe "stiffer" was a poor choice of words. I just meant that I am about 200 pounds and when my bike bottoms out, I can feel it cry. I don't want to make my bike cry anymore.

a 250r shock is much softer and doesnt bottom out. not sure why you would want a stiffer shock.

I weigh about 200 and have bottomed my stock Blaster rear on multiple jumps. You could tighten your preload......keep in mind, this will make your ride a lot rougher. The more ideal route is an aftermarket shock or do what most do with the shock swaps. I personally went with a Honda 450R rear shock which gave me 9.1" of rear travel instead of the stock 7.1" the Blaster shock gives plus if I am doing heavy jumping I can increase compression since it's adjustable to help fend off bottoming off. I'm guessing the frame will probably need gusseted before I bottom this shock out when it's set up properly.

I have the rear shock off a 2003 400EX nearby for $60. Will this fit properly without having to do a bunch of mods. to it or the bike?

Also, will it help me out with my bottoming out issue at me being 200 pounds?

Thanks!

Yes it will, because of the added shock travel length and you can adjust the compression, rebound, and preload where as the Blaster shock is only preload adjustable.

All you need are Ken O'Connor's bushings and/or your own bushing to put in place and then drill out the bottom shock hole on the shock with a 12mm bit. I used a 15/32" bit I picked up at Lowes for $8 and it worked fine.
