Got my Blaster about a month ago, it didn't run when I got it but the guy I got it from is a fiend of mine and I know it just had a 240 piston and sleeve installed but he couldn't get the carb right so it has sat over 6 months. I checked the reeds and there good the fuel petcock had a broke screen and the tank was dirty so I got a new petcock and cleaned the tank. I also got new gas (93 octane) and mixed in Golden Spectro oil. I just installed a new 30mm Keihin Carb put in a new plug, a uni filter, removed the air box lid and it started right up. After it wormed up it sounded great, revs nice in neutral but in gear it wants to bog down bad and even when I can get it to take off theres no power like it revs up a little then completely flat lines, but then I can put it back in neutral and it revs great....... any help would be great.

i meant maybe when it was removed something could have gotten overlooked, but i looked allthrough my yamaha shop manual and cant find anything about the safety switch . hmmm not sure why it would run perfectly until u put it into gear for any reason other than p brake sensor

I had a warrior I had that problem with but I don't think the Blaster has this same feature.

Update... talked to Carb Parts Warehouse today, where I bought my carb from, they said the carb is pre jetted close enough to have the bike running then I should fine tune it. So it must not be a problem with the carb. I also got a compression tester just too make sure something isn't wrong in the motor and it tested a solid 120psi everytime so thats good. Could it be an ignition problem causing this?
