I just had my engine bored out and now putting it back together. I went to put the generator back on and and start it but it wont start.
For some reason my friend took the screws out of the generator that holds the screws in place and that caused the magnets to shift and im not sure if the magnets should be in a certain spot on the fly wheel. can any one help please, im lost.

well, from the sounds of it, if your magnets shifted your timing could be way out of whack, i would pull your flywheel off and try to re-align the magnets and loctite those screws that hold them on so they dont come off easily, its been a while since ive looked at my flywheel , so hopefully for your sake there are only a few holes for the magnet screws and not a hole bunch of random holes in the fly wheel, so you get the magnets in the right spot, i hope this is making sense to yo or helping you, im not 100% sure what you are describing, let me know

yeah, we put the magnets back in but its not starting still. is there a certain spot that a certain magnet needs to be or is it anyway to tell which magnet goes where or what spot on the fly wheel.

do you have the woodruff key in place on the crankshaft?, i honestly couldn't tell you which magnet goes on which side but im sure it matters, because i believe the polarity's should be different, have you tried switching the magnets around

We tried kick starting it for about an hour but couldnt get it started. We then started moving the magnets around but still nothing. So we then decided to just pull it around the yard and it immediately started up and so far it starts right up now.

the magnets are inside the flywheel the coils are what mount to the timing plate. and it wouldnt matter where they were they would work, however they will only mount one way on plate otherwise the fins will hit when u try to put the flywheel on. there is a lil black pick up in there mounts to the lplate. if this is outta wack u will have a timing issue. this is the trigger that tells to fire. just a lil fyi. glad to hear u fixed er up
