need help stock carb jetting

I've got a 01. Fmf gold series and powercore 2 silencer. Boysen power reeds and reed spacer. New air filter. Removed air box lid. Stock carb. I've got a 300 main jet is that to big or to small? stock bore i think. What can i do to get a Lil more power.

the 300 is a good starting point depending on your elevation and current temps, but only one way to tell for sure....

I'd buy 290 and 270 mains also and plug chop down.

How do you do the plug chop

How do you do a plug chop? And what is the purpose?

With the 300 jet it runs good but don't seem like my power bands kick in as hard

the link I posted explains how to do it, it's purpose is to get the correct air/fuel ratio for the main jet

Would it pay off too get it ported And polished. Would that require any additional Parts.

it pays off big time, possibly double the horsepower
no extra parts are needed except new top end gaskets, unless your cylinder is worn and due for a bore/hone anyway, then you'll need a piston/gasket set
