Hey all, I need a favor. Im sure some of y'all drive Silverado 1500 trucks, and if you happen to drive one with the 1999-2006 body style, perhaps you can help me out.

The spare tire tools for my 2004 Silverado 1500 were removed before I got it. With winter on the way, I want to finally do something about not carrying my spare tire with me when I travel. As most of you who own one of these trucks know, they require a special tool (rod) to raise and lower the spare tire from underneath the bed. But I have no idea of the length or style of this special tool.

I need a measurement of the total length of the rod, as well as a good close-up of the end that goes into the truck to work the tire raising/lowering mechanism. I see no reason to spend $ 80.00 or more on ebay for a whole tire tool kit, when I know I can make just the rod I need for $ 10.00 or so in materials.

Max rep to anybody who can help and/or send me a link to a tool which does not cost a fortune! I:I

the three lengths are 20" long almost on the dot, pic of the end of the last bar and the end of the tire iron coming up in a few minutes

Sounds great, Thanks!

I didn't know blasterdemon7 was a salvage yard worker....I'll shoot him a PM and see if he can come up with something!

Let me know if dakota can't help you. I have a bone yard right down the road and they have tons of chevy, gmc, etc trucks. I am sure I can find you a set for dirt cheap, they are very reasonable.

Ok, actually....... see what you can do! I can't seem to find a tire tool set anywhere for less than $ 75.00, so if you can come up with something, I'd be very interested.
