Hello all,I'm brand new to the world of 2-strokin' and I'm in need of some opinions/advice? I've recently bought a 1991 blaster from a buddy(which I'm sure was due for a rebuild anyway)...looks kinda rough, but it's a restore in progress. Anyhow, when I bought it about two months ago, and it ran pretty good when it finally started. (usually had to push it on a cold start)...this was after double checking every jet setting, spark plug, and anything else i could against the manual, except compression. Yesterday, I was riding along, just getting it warmed up when the motor made a clanging noise and died...and it had next to no compression. Against my better judgement I pushed it once more and it started but ran VERY rough. I'm gonna be tearing into it in the next couple of days, and was hoping y'all might have any thoughts/suggestions before I do.?.?

It sounds like its time for a new top end to me. It shouldn't cost you too much to rebuild it. My 91 sounds a little sloppy right now but still starts in a couple kicks. Did it sound like a bunch of little hammers ticking in the top end when you bought it? Just wait until you get it rebuilt and hang on. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Yep, that's pretty much what it sounded like from the time i got it. Thanks for the info, I thought that was the problem...Any brand of rebuild kit that you'd recommend?
