My Subaroo.

It's a 98 Legacy Outback anniversary edition with almost every option. It has a 2.5 boxer motor with Uto trans. It's also 4 wheel drive.

If you don't know already these things go forever.. i mean like easy 300k.. I've seen them up into mid 400s believe it or not.. Only issue when getting up there witch is common is a little tap in motor but there known for that and maybe wheel bearings at about 200 250k. But I'm in n.y and the salt eats allot of things a little prematurely.. there press in bearings so they can be a btch sometimes to get them to set right.. All in all there great cars and you got this one at a great price.. Just change and check front and rear diff fluid as needed and drive the balz off it.. also those things drain oil in a matter of five seconds lol..its like the car literally pushes the oil out when you change it.. you'll see what I'm talking about , just if your changing oil yourself set the pan back a little... ohh just realized your from deleware,, so you know how the salt is sometimes.. How much for head gasket job?? Also if you ever do an axle on it they have a pin in them that you need to push through and pull out, its on trans side on spline gear its not like other axles where you give a good yank and they pull off, just use a punch and remove pin..

Thanks for the good advise. It's going to cost a out $250 because they call for the head bolts to be replaced. That's $80 right there.

Placed my order for the gasket set last night. Gong to pull the engine Saterday to start on it. Ill be glad to get it back on the road.

Yeah the head bolts stretch a little. Setting the timing isn't to bad from what i remember but its been a while since I've worked on a subaawooo.. How are things going btw.. Get heads off yet?? Post up some pics.:) i assume your going to get the heads shaved. Do you have a good shop for that yet ?

They call for new head bolts but the Subaru techs don't replace them when they do it. I'm going to check the heads and block with a strait edge and feeler gauge . Ill be pulling the motor this week.

Pulled the head off today and was real shocked to see a very strong cross hatch on the cylinders. Theres also no lip in the cylinder. Looks like I have a real low mile rebuilt engine.
