Sup guys, as most of you know, I picked up a 1987 Quadzilla in the end of January (big thanks to AWK for pointing it out and posting the CL ad on here) I:I

When I got it, the plastics were beat badly and it had the original front tires that weren't holding air. Aside from the cosmetic issues, it still had the stock carb (which is known to be trash on the 1987s) and it was a MFer to start!

Heres a before pic of the zilla(all I had added at this point was Douglas Blue Labels with Dunlops up front):

I didn't get a picture of the other side because at the time i was embarrased by the massive cracks in the plastics lol

Here's a video of it running with the old plastics on there and it was dirty as hell as I had just ridden it earlier that day. (that knocking noise is the stock piston thrust washers worn out, they have been replaced with the upgraded billet ones and the engines nice and quiet now)

I finally decided to put on my new plastics and decals and man, its such an improvement

sorry for the dark pictures, i got them on late last night and wanted to snap some pics! and BTW, Maier fitment SUCKS for the zillas! I had to mod them quite a bit to fit (all on the inside so its not visible from the exterior)

Thanks for looking,
Carnz I:I

but that white looks awesome !!!!!

cool, i like the white too obv. (ive been rockin all white plastics from day one) maiers always fit like sh*t even the blaster stuff, from all my experiences with them. look real good on there tho, great job so far

thanks everyone. yeah I think the white is a huge improvement over the yellow. I love white quads.

I have some more stuff to do still: paint frame, swingarm, and a-arms.
one of these days I'm going to clean it up really well and get some well-lit pictures.

ill see if I can do some videos toooo, but I don't know if anyone will want to bring a camera to the riding spot.

Looks good now! I'm glad it went to a guy who will spend the time and a lil $$$$ to restore it back to it's former glory :p

hehe i'm trying man, I hate to see these old machines get parted out or trashed completely. its harder and harder to find them in good shape, well hard to find them in general.

I plan to get another one and do a restoration on it, all OEM plastics and everything.

too bad they don't have a sick hood for it like the 250s.. I would love to have a zilla in my collection one day. after a nice rebuild lmk how long of a run it can do, someone was telling me it would never make the 45 mile XC race here as it's not reliable enough and it just falls apart and that I shouldn't run any 2 stroke in it. funny is he's a 2 stroke guy, he has my old 88 trx 250 actually and it's almost done and alot nicer than when I sold it to him, PEP shocks all around and all...

nice zilla!

I think a lot of the reliability issues from zillas came from the stock piston thrust washers. they are known to fail often which leads to destruction of the bottom end as well, with the billet thrust washers.they are much more reliable.

I'll keep u guys informed on how it does. my compression is getting a little low(hasn't been rebuilt since 92) so I'm going to rebore it and keep rollin.
