Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

looks pretty good to me. i know some porters wil knife edge the intake but i dont see how it can make a big difference. always nice to look at before and after pics. nice!

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

Started this thread to get some input on this. This is done by Heer Jugs racing. It is an aggressive MX port. Set up to run with a stock stroke crank and a plus 3 stroke crank from what he told me. I talked to him on the phone about what would be the best port. Talked to him about what mods I had, how I ride and where I ride. I told him that I planed on adding a stroker crank over the winter but would be running a stock stroke crank all summer. I told him this because I didn't know if it would make a difference in porting to make it easyer to adjust it later for the stroker crank. He said he could set it up now for the stroker and it wouldn't hurt the performance at all running it with a stock stroke crank. He said after I added the stroker, go with a 39mm carb.

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

does sound kinda funny but im thinking it was setup more for the +3 but will run better than stock jug with stock stroke crank. follow?

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

it should run good but i guarantee its not going to run to potential till u get the +3 and i dont know wtf hes talkin about with a 39mm carb unless ur runnin alky, a 34 would be perfect for it. im not going to bash a builder but i would never send him anything of mine. guy seems kinda shady.

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

is anyone besides possibly strokedtater, and now lil3mil, running anything closely resembling a 39mm carb, especially on a trail bike, that cant be right

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

I won this port work in a raffle on Dirt paridise. Awk made the comment that you get what you pay for. I paid the shipping both ways but Shane the forum owner, paid $225 for this work. I don't know alot about 2 stroke porting and I was going by a professions opinion. I'm a little confused about the stock/stroker setup and running a 39mm carb.

He's the top Banshee guy on the west coast from what I've been told.

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

it will run fun but i wouldnt go to a banshee guy for a blaster... just take it for what its worth (or what you paid for it) i would run a 34-36 mm carb with the stroker crank.

and that is why, hes a banshee guy he will put his all into a banshee motor but a little ol blaster motor is nothing to him so he just does it and gets it out the door. dont go to a banshee guy with a blaster motor. but it should run fine till u get the stroker in there.

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

what are they running? 110?alky? meth? im not saying it wont run on it, just no point in having a 39mm carb when a 34 will suffice

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

I'm not putting the guy down, I just not fully understanding what he's done. He was a nice guy to talk to on the phone. Threw in some extras and had a fast turn around.

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

con8quest runs a pwk 38 on his long rod motor and not many trail blasters will keep up to it and he runs 93 or race fuel and its a screamer. Some good aggressive porting will handle tons of fuel and like it!

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

I had a pick between two builders. I didn't pick the other one because I thought that it was odd that they insisted that they would have my O'Conner head to make sure it would would with there porting.

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

Thanks for the input on the porting. I was starting to get upset thinking I would not be able to ride till I could get a new crank. I'm starting to feel better and the thought of a part out is fading.lol. As for the carb, I'm going 34mm max. I may play with a bigger carb then that later if I find a good cheap one just to experiment with. I won't be able to do the stroker till winter so you AWK ride guys try not to leave me to far behind.Lol

Re: Bly HJR ported jug.

sounds to me like they wanted to copy his design....anyways u should enjoy it and i am sure it will be a totally different bike when u install it. i know i cant wait till i get back to mine....
