Hello everyone. I just got myself my very first wheeler. I figured at 33yo, it was time to get myself a nice toy to hurt myself with. (joking, I don't wanna hurt myself)

Anyhow, I picked up a 2002 Blaster from a guy I work with. He was going to trade it plus $400 to a guy for a 350 Warrior that hte seller was asking $600 for. I offered him the $200 difference so he could give the guy a straight $600 cash... and to make a long story short, I bought a running 2002 Blaster for $200!!! what a steal!

It needs some work. The guy gave me a list. Perhaps since I'm new to the 4wheeler world, you guys could point me towards some replacement parts/upgrades from stock on the following items: (note: I haven't taken time to check out the entire site and will do so as soon as I hit post. Some of these items/questions may already be answered and I apologize for repeats.)

Brake cable adjusters
Front A-arm bushings (top/bottom, both sides)
swing arm bearings
chain rollers
rear brake pads (I also need the 2 mounting bolts to hold the caliper on)
seat or seat cover (foam's fine, just needs recovered really)
Headlights (it has some funky small headlights on it now, nothing like the pics I've seen online, see pic below)

Anyhow, that's his list. Here's a few pics. Perhaps someone in the know could tell me if this thing's cobbled together or if it's genuine yamaha parts.

Welcome to the forum...You will find alot of great advice here! nice pick up for 200$. You can find some nice seat covers on ebay...but they are a pain to put on...and I got my headlights from wal mart..I changed the bulbs in them to 20 watt so they could run properly. Heres a pic of them...

Great deal ! !

Interesting hood ! !

I got one word for you on most of those parts... Ebay !

Haha Most of that stuff can be bought cheap there, but there are alot of folks on here parting out Blaster that sell stuff cheap.

One thing I would like to recommend for the rear brakes is whats called a shorty cable from an guy on ebay.. It eliminates the parking brake to the rear brakes, but that shorty cable will make you rear brakes work tons better (of course add a good rear brake assembly cleanup).

The a arm bushing are an ebay item
The swingarm bushings could be as well, but Pivot Works makes a nice set for them as well.
Brake pads are ebay or dealer ($20ish?)
Adjusters are an item you can get from a part out cheap
Chain rollers are pretty standard, and I buy mine from our local Honda dealer actually ($15)
People on here will sell you a headlight if you want, but alot of people convert their headlights to some Walmart light, but you need to remove the 50w headlight, and swap in 25w bulbs since the lighting circuit is only 55w or so (give or take)
Seat cover sounds like a part out item or ebay, but keep in mind due to size it may be expensive shipping.

Nice pick up for $200. I'm picking up an 03 for $300 on Friday but the motor in mine is blown.

Is there anyway to get a front shot of the blasty? I'd like to see what that hood looks like straight on. Thanks

Sure, if i think of it after I sleep a while (I work 3rds), I'll grab a bunch of different pics.

I'm going to look into maybe installing some LED "work lights" as headlights. I have some 12vDC lights that have very little draw that I use as rock lights on my Jeep, and was thinking maybe I'd see if I can use them as headlamps. They're a bright as my high beams when I had them mounted to the front of my Jeep. I've got to take some time later today to research the lighting situation on a blaster.

I also want to put a better front bumper on it. The stock single bar jsut doesn't seem like it would stop much, and I'm sure since it's my first wheeler, I'm going to hit stuff... often. lol

good steal.....if u need anything ask....here are some people who i no would have ur answers...ME(sometimes),mr. 305 and his girl Mrs. 305,racer x,CC&FABB,Timyfz,djack12,89custom and many more....I:I

nice pick up man and that headlight looks to be something off a dirtbike like an aftermarket one from like rockymountain or something... and if u need new brake pads for the rear i have a brand new set of shoes for it that i didnt use cuz im in the process of hooking up my cbr rear hydro

I was thinking I'd seen it before (the front)... I was guessing some sort of dirt bike as well. I'm going to remove it and get a stock hood and light assembly. I really prefer a nice clean stock look. Especially since it's cheaper to go back to stock than it is to go all out custom. lol. Looking at some of the wheelers on here and wow... I'd be pretty overwhelmed to build something like that right now. lol
Any idea how much it would be to get a stock 2002 hood?

Drop me a PM about those brake pads shipped to 16365. :)
The prev owner said the pads were all new all around, but it needs adjustersfor the fronts. I don't mind stock piling wear fast parts like brake pads and tires... I can see tires in my future too... lots of tires.

As per requested, here's a front on shot.

Those may be the headlights we were speaking of when we referred to the walmart headlights.
They fit very snug into that hood, I doubt walmart made anything that would fit so well into there. They look like little flashlights when up close. Either way, I'm going to look for a 2002 OEM hood and headlight assembly and swap em out I think. I am a stock-nazi with most of the vehicles I've owned, with the exception of my Jeep.

While running, when I switch on low beam, the left one lights up, and high beam lights up the right and the left goes out. Does this seem normal?
