ok heres the thing ive owned my blaster for about a month now and i have had to adjust my chain about 4-5 times and i think i finally found the problem when i was running threw the trails today my chain started jumping so i went really easy on it and got it home and adjusted my chain and went back out riding and about a mile down the road it started jumping again and this time i couldnt make it back home it was jumping so easy.
anyways i was wondering how easy is it to change the drive sprocket and while im in there should i put in a 12 tooth or a 14 tooth i do mostly trail riding i was leaning more to the 12.
anyways you prolly wanna see a pic.

i think the sprocket is the effect. something is happening if you have had to adjust your chain that many times in a month.. but yea you're going to need a new sprocket now for sure.. i'd get a 14t.. the stock 12t seems to waste 1st gear IMO. i can't even get a rolling wheelie in first on the blaster because it redlines before the wheels can get off the ground.. all day in 2nd though.. 14t FTW.. but make sure you take care of the chain tension problem first or you're going to be buying another sprocket again before long...
 
You need to change BOTH sprockets AND the chain!, get the 12 tooth for trail riding.
First gear is for putting thrue the staging area, second is for POWER LAUNCHES!
 
all that i can find wrong with it is the sprocket ive looked at everything but yeah while im in there im going to replace the chain cause the sprocket being like that stretched it out very fast and who knows how old the chain is by the way how hard is it to change the sprocket???
 
yeah ive never seen that. how can that even happen? a couple teeth go and it just puts more pressure on the others? i didnt even look closesly at the picture till someone else said something then im like wow WHAT no teeth lol
 
replace you chain, and both front and rear sprockets. make sure you have both chain tensioners, your rear chain guide and both chain rollers.also make sure you botls through the carrier are nice and tight once you get you new chain lined up with the right amount of slack. the front and rear sprockts are both really easy to change.

yeah i thaught it was crasy when i first seen it too but yeah onw of the main bolts that hold the adjustment still (top one) the nut is stripped so i thing that could have been what caused it cause i couldnt really get it that tight.
 
oh yeah i forgot to mention there is something wrong with my ignition it wont turn off with the key i can still turn it off with the handle bar kill switch but it can be started in the off position as long as the handle bar kill switch is in the on position what do you guys think is wrong with it.

p.s. thanks for all the help so far im going to be getting my sprocket and chain as soon as i get ahold of some $$$
 
yeah my chain still is stretching very fast i usually have to tighten it after about 2-3 day long rides.
but i think i found the problem when i jacked up the rear of the quad and spun the tires it would rotate smoothly and then bind up so im pretty sure im ganna have to buy a new rear sprocket and chain....
does that sound about right?????

nothing is hitting grinding or doing anything like that to the chain or sprockets.
 
DO NOT get a non o-ring chain. they are useless and will tear up easily.

sprocket wear like that is usually caused by you haivng the chain adjusted too tight. on an ATV, you should at least 3 inches of slack in the chain when nobody is sitting on teh quad. 1.5-2 inches of slack when it has 1 person on it.

because of the guides and rollers on ATV's you can run an extremely loose chain with no worries of it coming off. remember, the more your suspension compresses the tighter it pulls on your chain. if the chain runs out of slack during suspension compression you will damage it and the sprockets.

DO NOT replace just the front sprocket and chain. replace all 3 componets at the same time and dont go cheap on it. this is one of the most important drive train parts of your ATV and should be given top priority when it comes to maintenance and quality. chain color doesnt make it better. cheap chains come in colors also to help sales. get yourself a good RK, DID, or AFAM chain in either o-ring or x-ring and keep it clean and lubricated. kerosene is your best friend when your chain gets all gunked up during a ride. it melts the dirt and grip off while not damaging the rings inside the chain. once its clean, get some chain wax and spray it on. WD-40 is NOT a suitable lubricant as it will fling off within the first mile of riding.

Maxima or Bel-ray chain wax is amazing stuff and worth the $8 a can.



and i vote 14teeth for the front sprocket as well
