Hello fellow riders lol new to the site so 2 weeks ago I bought this blaster for 400 and piston had blown the next day so after replacing piston I realized it was bored .80 over after riding it I noticed it has terrible low end power and the steering is really stiff I know it has aftermarket control arms and all the suspension looks good any suggestions

You could have figured out the piston was wrong by a simple leak test. you can rent the tool from auto stores, cheaper than $150 + for a new motor!

Yup it was a leak test that you were advised to do.

Any two stroke purchased used should be leak tested as soon as it arrives at its new home.

Then it is tested at lease twice a season to make sure it is still airtight.

An air leak will produce the symptoms of running lean, and adjusting the air screw is only putting a band aid on the problem.

Leak test and get back with the results.

Did you have the piston bored to the cylinder or did you just replace it? Keep in mind, it did blow on you, so I'd start checking the basics, especially since you jsut got it. Leak down test, compression test, carb cleaning, filter cleaning, new plug, heat cycles, break in, plug chop, review, go.

Also, what jetting are you going with? Did you use new gaskets and seals? 115 seems low for compression. EDIT: What is your elevation?

115psi on a fresh rebuild, possibly with no heat cycling or head re tightening would not be surprising.

115 psi on a fresh un started engine will possibly rise to 125 when broken in correctly.

Was the correct 80 over size piston used, was the bore honed.

Was it heat cycled and 2 tanks of fuel run through at no more than 3/4 throttle.

Did you leak test?

Did you check the ring gap clearance?
