1998 Yamaha Blaster
I traded my old dirt bike for this thing about 4 years ago. It was in horrible shape. Look like it sat in a pond for awhile. I disassembled the thing and sandblasted all of it and the plastics. Painted the frame n all with rust oleum hammerd silver paint, and painted the plastics with krylon fusion plastic paint black and blue. Ive got the parking brake eliminator, new chain sliders, grips, levers, petcock, and shifter.
I also split the cases to put in new weisco crank and rod. Std. bore cylinder w/ wiesco piston, vforce 3 reeds and 3/8 spacer i made at work on cnc mill. Had to put in new shift shaft. New Barnett clutch. Also removed oil pump and made block off.
These are just a few things ive done with it. really to meany to list, its far from done.
I wish i would have took before and after pics. its not the same blaster as it was.

I just hope it was because the choke was on. I mean it sounded right when i took choke off. Done lots of jetting, Spark plug looks good. and runs real good. after i warm it up it ideals like normal.

Ok I was just wondering bc you might have an airleak after a new rebuild. you should def make or invest in a leakdown tester if you are gonna stick with your little addiction. lol. besides that it sounds like you are on the road to havin a very nice little blaster.

first off, nice blasterI:I i just wanted to comment on the high idle... my blaster does the same thing when i have the choke on.. it will start normal and then kinda start to increase in rpms, then i normally adjust the choke in a little until it comes back down... i do this for my piece of mind, cuz i hate hearing it rev like that cold... anyways i looked into the issue with the high revving with the choke on and for 2-strokes it seems to be normal, and i know my engine is leak free (just checked it 3 days ago) and has good compression... it still makes me wonder why it does that, you would think the high idle would be bad for the cold engine.... but like i said, my blaster is running great so i wouldnt worry.... i kinda think it has something to do with the fuel level in the carb... i adjusted the float heights the other day because they were too low, and now it takes alot longer with the choke on for the rpms to go up, so maybe double check your float height, maybe i need to adjust mine a little more... stock carb float height is 20-21mm...
