i bought my blaster about a month ago with everything i put in my signature. i took it out one time before she blew thanks to my lean jetting so i decided since i have it apart i might as well paint the frame and maybe do some other things like a 400ex rear shock and banshee fronts? im not sure about that yet and since its blown i might send my cylinder out to get ported. but anyway i started taking it apart today and i think im going to paint my frame black so i have a black and blue theme. im up for any advice and suggestions as this will be a slow rebuild process because im swamped with my classes and im short on cash (until i get my tax money :))

so this is how it was when i bought it:

i decided since i had nothing to do i would polish the throttle cover lol. its not great but im not done yet and im going to paint the bottom part of the throttle blue i think:

thats all for now. let me know what you guys think about painting the frame black and im thinking about painting the bumper, grab bar, and maybe the nerfs and pegs as well.

alright so i finally got it down to the frame today and i realized its a little bit bent in the front which kind of made me mad but im still going to keep this frame because i dont have the money for another one. i spoke to ken o'connor from ken o'connor racing and im going to send my cylinder and head to him soon. i will start sanding down my frame and prepping it for paint within the next few days. any advice on how to prep it to paint and what paint to use?

heres a pic of the frame:

sandblasting it would be the easyest bu try to get it scuffedd pretty good a nice primer ,paint, clear coat i dont know if your using a rattle can or a spray gun but either or same prep

nice so far. i just tried this and dont kno if it lasts but the rattle can bed liner i sprayed my pegs and my kicker with it.. might be something decent to try on the frame or test out atleast.

how did it last on the pegs?? i really want to do my pegs but im scared the paint will come off. i think im going to just use regular paint for the frame

Cool project!
What about powder coating the frame?

i dont have the money for it otherwise id love to get it powdercoated

all i did was degrease em and i think u just gotta put afew coats let it cure and dry to harden . like i said thoug not sure if it works but i use the same thing on my truck and it does decent. ive only done one coat on mine to see how that works but if u do it maybe try atleast three.

ok let me do a quick update since i havent been posting on here. i dont have any pics right now because i havent really done any work yet. but i did send my cylinder and head to ken oconnor racing yesterday. the cylinder is getting ported and bored and honed and the head is going to get machined. ken is an awesome guy and i definitely recommend him to anyone. he told me it should be done within 5-7 days which is so fast i dont even know if i can finish painting by then lol. im waiting for a nice warm day to get the painting done so who knows when that will be, but im hoping soon. i also decided im going to run it with the air box now instead of the pod filter because i dont like having to avoid all puddles. hopefully within the next few days ill start to get some painting done and ill post some pics I:I

just picked up these banshee shocks for $20 :)

i know they are a little rusty but im getting shock covers for them. im looking for a cheap 400ex rear shock now

I'm jealous! I took my frame to Car wash blasted it off scuffed it up them rattle canned it two coats, I'm wasn't looking for show room, I'll just get scratched anyhow. Seems to be good. sure is alot of rebuilds goin on!

When I did my frame I used paint stripper and then power washed all the paint off. Then I hosed it down with a few coats of self etching primer. No hard work at all.

stripped the frame the other day with aircraft remover made by rustoleum. let me tell you that if youre going to use it, cover all of your skin. that stuff burns lol. after stripping it with that it turned out like this:
frame1.jpg

so i gave it the first coat of primer today since it was so nice out

im hoping to have it all painted by thursday. im thinking about getting a rustoleum textured black paint for it but im not sure yet. hopefully if its done by the weekend i should be putting it back together. my cylinder, head, piston and gaskets will be coming in soon from oconnor and a 400ex shock that i ordered the other day. after that its just putting things back together and hopefully ill fire her up by next week :)

so today i was all aggravated walking out my door because i had to go all the way up to my school just to take an exam. i walk out the door and look at a chair on my porch and this showed up :):
