my friend found a '79 mx 100 the other day and a complete blaster frame good fenders carb tires and beadlocks, both for 100 dol. hes guna bring the mx to me today so i can check it out, does anybody know wnything about these bikes? are they good? can parts still be found easily? he said it still has good compression and the only thing missing is the silencer. any info would help out, ive never messed with anything that old, but cant wait to get my hands on it.

lol thanks! i found a good bit of parts that are still availible and my dealer told me he has attic full of old parts and prob has stuff for that too. but my main ques was does anybody have any experience with them? i took the jug off yesterday and its all free everything works but the crank is rusted up on the bottom side and the top end needs rebuilding.

A 79 mx 100. Ahhh that was my very first dirtbike. The jug was off when I got it and the piston was rusted to the cylinder wall. Broke it free and did a top end and it wouldnt crank by kick starting it. you had to push it, pop the clutch and jump on it at the same time to make traction to get it to crank. after a year of more pushing than riding I finally saved enough money to have it looked at and the crank was worn out and he said it wasnt worth fixing. So my point is depending on the damage and wear to the motor it might not be worth putting the money into to fix something so old. I ended up buying a kx 80 that was way faster and more fun and more dependable. And it still cost less to buy the kx 80 than to fix the mx100. Hope this helps. Good luck either way.
