I am going to be doing my start up modifications on my blaster here soon. I have been reading alot of people suggest not to get FMF and pro circuit. Is there a reason why? Do they really not pick up very much for the cost?

I think I want to keep the mods simple for now. Pipe, silencer, reeds, and a bigger carb. I think the stock gearing will be good. Being stock they feel a little slow now but I bet with some mods it'll be fine.

My questions are what carb to use?
Where can I get a reed cage boot thing to fit and what about the air filter rubber boot side?
After finding the carb.. what is the proper jet to use with a pipe/silencer?

I figured enough people have done that commen of a mod that they would be able to suggest a close enough jet to work well.

My searching didnt come up with alot of concrete answers. thanks for any help. B)

well a fmf pipe is good unless your getting into some heavy port work and head redesign.
for what your doing, i think it would be great.
and once you add those mods, it wont have anymore top speed its gonan go through them gears even quicker, making first gear useless., but that all depends on what type of riding your doing.
stock carb will work fine but a 30mm is always a good upgrade.
with my fmf pipe, boyessan reeds and open airbox im running a 270.

I did the following mods:
35MM PWK carb. 150 main jet and 42 pilot jet 1 turn out and needle set to the 3rd groove.
G Travis Racing port work and head work.
FMS Fatty Gold Series pipe (Price was right).

You can get up to a 34mm carb in the stock boot: Dip the rubber boot in some boiling water then work the carb into the boot. II use a K&N cone filter (4" long, 3" to 2" taper( directly off the carb. I had to remove the stock airfilter boot and bend the airbox boot support bracket out of the way.

It makes much more top end power and still does good in the midrange. Havent really got to play in the sand yet.

30mm carb is good, if your going big bore than 34mm or so. using a stock boot for 34mm is not recomended although it can be done. reeds: v force 3, or cheaper route, go with stage 2 reeds from vitos, those are good.

nothing wrong with fmf, you pick what you think you like. as far as jetting the keihin carbs, i would start with a 160 main jet, 42 pilot, and needle on 3rd clip from top, fine tune after that.
