Hi guys i have ordered brand new reiger shocks for less and half price from a shop. anyways.

they are 15 and a half inches so there a inch to long. i might get away with fitting them or i may be able to adjust them. but if not was thinking of this.

getting my mate hes a welder. to cut the top and bottom eye on each shock in half so it leaves a cut off like a half moon shape. and get him to file/grind half a inch of the top one and half a inch of the bottom one the parts that get cut off. and reweld them so there 14 and a half inches from eye to eye? my mate is a qualified welder although im not sure if there aluminium but i have someone else that has a garage that welds aluminium. but just wanting to know your guys output on it as that the only thing i can think of without spending money on long travel arms or sending them off to get shaft cut and thread as i can't afford any more money to get anything done as still to buy jets for exhaust.

please be honest what you think of the idea. not sure how i thought of it but just thought of that way as it saves interfering with the actual springs etc plus it would only cost me £20/$40 max to get them welded.

thanks guys!

I would adjust the blaster before i adjusted the shock!!!! not hard to add another mounting bracket an inch higher. plenty of people have done it

cheers man! never thought of that LOL! but should have shocks by friday hopefully so il see then do you just cut the upper mount and re weld?

A lot of guys just add to the current bracket making it stick out further and up a little. and if all else fails running them an inch long won't destroy anything

ah :) could i just compress the shocks down and fit them without welding etc? was speaking to awk and he had 16 and a half inch on his black bike and he said it messed up the tie rods they ended up binding. but dunno about a inch longer.

shaving on top of the eye shouldnt make you loose height in the shaft so your eye to eye is going to be the same and it looks like you have enuf adjustment in those shocks just run them a inch isnt going to hurt i ran 16 inches b4

well if i just bought some nice am shocks i would seriously be thinking about new mounting brackets if you can. then if some am a arms come up it won't matter if they are standard travle

thanks scotj and thanks speeddemon!:) think il just run them a inch longer for now and see what happens down the line. guy was shocked i think at my offer i made as i think he was only expecting to get like £75/$100 for them but offered him £180/$280 for them as i knew the price of them new and i was really needing shocks. but guy is happy with offer and he is sending me the info i need to order a courier to pick them up so hopefully il get them picked up either tomorrow or friday and delivered friday or monday :)

i'd add a lower mount to the a-arm, that would be much easier to undo with a cheap new stock arm, or A/M arms
i would not permanently alter the frame mounts
