major idle problems

My son has a 1990 blaster with a stock pipe and aftermarket silencer. The thing ran like a top! We went to glamis and it started taking off in to the rpms at idle. Checked out the carb and the threads for the tors system were stripped. Bought a stock carb and installed it. starts fine, a little tough at times, and I can get the idle adjusted fine. Once it warms up, it takes of into the rpms on is own. I have to shut it off to get it to stop. I realize there can be any # of air leaks, but the boot seems to be fine,all seals on carb seems to be fine, Any ideas?

The pilot system is LEAN, turn the air screw IN about 1/8-1/4 at a time and it should come back down, if not you'll need a bigger pilot jet.

It sounds like a gasket mybe the base gasket my blaster did the same thing.

not the air screw. turned it in and nothing happened. Idle still got so high I thought the thing was gonna blow up.
