Ok so to my understanding the pipe is adjustable, but mine leaks fumes were the 2 peices slide together on the pipe....you know the adjustable part...is this normAl? Does it effect the proformance? Also if it's fixable how do I fix it?

If it leaks any it will affect performance, but what is worse it may create a lean condition which will fry the piston.

Not knowing how much it is leaking and wether it is damaged in any way, I cannot comment on how you could repair it.

It may just need pulling apart and cleaning the mating surfaces.

Member Herpderplol has/had one and may be able to shed some light when it comes to stopping the leak.

You can put a bead of hi temp rtv on it and it will seal for a bit. The best solution but you can't reverse it is to find where you like it the most and then braze it so it's one piece. It's a good concept but a bad design.

Well before you go welding/brazing it I would adjust it a little in both directions and see how you like it. I personally would not braze it. If you plan on doing future mods then you may want to move it around some to match your riding style. It will also hurt the resale value of the pipe.

Heres the thing.

It has to be sealed with high-temp RTV silicone.

I tried for an hour to put my pipe on when i got it, you can not fit the pipe in/out with it together, so NO do NOT weld it.

Awk08 used to have one, he said he could get it in/out, but i could not to save my life...

after smearing hi temp copper "band-aids" ON the joint 2 or 3 times,
only to have it burn thru after a few rides,
i finally pulled it completely apart, layed a heavy dose of the hi temp copper about 2" wide and an inch or so inside where the over piece ends, then reassembled it and cleaned off the excess mess i had created.
it lasted a whole season before springing another small leak.
at that time i had had enuf and sold it before i did break out the welder.

fyi...out of the 4 right bend pipes i have tried, that LRD was a close second to my favorite trinity

I did the same as what Awk just said, i smeared it on the outside, and it leaked.

In the end i took it apart and did it the right way.

One suggestion, put the stuff on the part that connect to the muffler, that way you wont push a big pile up and out. And twist it a little as you slide it together
