Ok so I just bought my first blaster. It's an 01 and it ok shape. It fires up on three or four kicks but when I go to take off it wont progress up to the powerband. It wants to hover around just before they kick in. The guy I bought it from said the bike used to scream until his wife started riding it and he thinks she fouled the plug cause she would just creep around the yard. I have put in a new plug, new air filter, new motor oil and bought 2 cycle oil from the local bike shop. Previous owner also said they were running cheap 2 cycle oil for like weed eaters or something. I have drained all the old gas out as well. Oh and the rear break is not working. So, if what I have tried does not work what next? Is my motor screwed and my wallet? help!

thanks all.

Welcome. If PO was using cheap oil it might be carboned up. Pull the exhaust pipe off and look into pipe and exhaust port. If the port is closed up turn engine till you can see top of piston. If it's carboned up bad you might have to pull the top end. Don't know others opinion but I might try sea foam in fuel. JMHO, your results may and will vary. :o

Ok so at 3/4 throttle it seems to run great, then when I go full throttle it runs crappy. Doesn't shut down just slugs out if that make since. New rings, plug, air filter. Could it be some adjustment on the carb? any other sugestions before i spend tons of money at a bike shop to fix this? It kicks fine, idles fine, its snappy at the start, but no full throttle power band.. help?

if there is anything aftermarket that adds to performance then you will have to put a bigger main jet, it sounds like it might be lean at the top so id go with a bigger main jet
