little help on "gears, or something around that nature"

alright so,, i bought a clutch... with the intention, of my 89 blaster needing one.. but .. to day i found out it does not. so heres the thing.. at first.. i could only shift into first and second nuetral also. but nothing more. felt like it had no more gears.. but. i looked and the little hook that grabs the gear is slipping off ?? and the shaft that comes from the shifter through motor,
pops out some , while shifting causing it to not grab... but after little screw driver play with that hook i got it to go into 3rd.and random gears now lol, but am wondering if anyone could help out some. ? thanks for reading my novel I:I

so is the shift lever bent somewhere? show us a pic if you can maybe. the shaft is held tight with the clutch cover so it doesnt come out like your describing

sorry no pics right now i have all put away at neighbors house, but idk whats exacly wrong with it. all can say is that the hooks that grab the pins to shift gears slips, ( sorry im noob )
