LED podlight

I have a 2000 blaster that I'm trying to put a Blazer 4in light bar on.
So far I have the light hooked to the high beam wire and just grounded on the voltage regulator.
It worked fine for a few seconds but now only the bottom row of lights come on and are hardly visible.
Would putting a rectifier on it help or is there other suggestions without having a battery.

I’d like to know if a light bar works without the dc conversion kit and battery as well.
Nearing the end of my sons build.

Side note, I run LED pods on my banshee without the conversion. They dim and brighten with rpm. I assumed a light bar would work the same, but now am wondering after reading the op.
