Leak test

I can't find anything good to cover up the exhaust to do my leak test any suggestions ?

i use one of these right in my pipe flange, don't remember the exact size, measure before you buy.........

before that i made an aluminum plate that bolts on in place of the pipe with a piece of rubber intertube under it

I use a flat piece of 3/8 steel about 2"x3" drill two holes in it for your studs, put a piece of bicycle tube rubber inbetween steel and cylinder.

I take the flange off and put a bit of rubber inner tube on and then replace the flange.

i looke dthru my whole garage i cant find anything and i really dont wanna go buying anything i just wanna ride my bike but gotta do a leak test

I had an extra blaster as tank. I cut a piece of the rubber that lays on the tank. Works like a champ.

At a pinch I have used a thick wad of newspaper.

lol newspaper and that really worked ??

Yup , took a bit of fiddling to get it to seal but it worked long enough to confirm that no leak was present.

Some gaskets are made of compressed paper.

i was gonna do something like that but i didnt think it would hold 6 psi with just paper

i will tomorrow what did you do just stuff newspaper in there and hold it with the flange

No dont just stuff it in there as the crinkles will allow air to leak past.

I folded the paper into a thick wad, maybe 20 or so times, placed it where the gasket goes between the flange and jug, and bolted the flange up.

Actually it was with a DMC and the flange is part of the pipe, but still should work with other flanges.

Trickiest part was keeping the wad small enough so that the bolts would still go through to the jug.

Ido not rememrber if I had to use any gasket cement, but if it leaked some could help.
