:eek:Tried to leak down test tonight finally and no matter how much I pumped I wouldn't build pressure  there was also a puddle of gear oil under the quad when I got into the garage.

Also isn't there supposed to be a gasket or at least some rtv where the exhaust connects to the motor ? Mine was kinda loose and no gasket def not air tight.

Need to get this to Ken ASAP ARGHHHHH:mad:

there is a crush gasket on pipe might be stuck on the pipe?
is gear oil coming out of cases or breather tube routed near the front exhaust?
is tester leaking?

Tester is good, I didn't witness the gear oil coming from the vent tube but it seems to be coming from the left side case somewhere near the shifter. The quad starts first kick and idles perfectly but smokes like crazy and sometimes the thing just revs real high. Def a bad air leak and I'm done messin with it gonna bring it in as soon as I can.

the chain probably fell off and crammed into the cases it happens alot?
got pics:)
carb is not leaking?
there is a seal on the shifter as well that could be leaking/easy fix:)

Sounds like an air leak from a bad seal or 2. . If you don't have the time nor means to do it yourself, than send it to someone who does and have some piece of mind that everything is done correctly. You already know who to send it to. You wont be disappointed.

Just sucks cause I wanted to do it myself, I always work on my Audi TT and Dodge Ram so I am mechanically inclined. when I got this thing home I realized the PO knew about as much as I did but didn't take the time to learn and take care of it properly. I guess it will be a lot easier when I know things are right on it. Good thing is this forum is here and I have learned a lot already just need the experince, I want to find a junk engine that I can practice working on but haven't found anything on CL yet.

So even though I'm going to see Ken tomorrow I figured I would mess with it a little to see if I could find something.

Hooked my leak tester back up and noticed I could hear air coming from the left side case. I took the cover off and could hear air coming through the fly wheel? ( sorry for my ignorance I know nothing this is all new to me) also saw some oil.

Couldn't pull it off cause don't have the tool but I feel a little better knowing I at least located where it was coming from. Hopefully it's just seals and not a hole in the case I did contact the PO and he assured me that the cases were good but who knows. I just want to ride so bad haven't done anything but work and watch tv ever since I got out of the army gotta have a hobby lol.

It was red though like the belray I use

so red belray 80w oil??.....it is going to smoke your clutch in my opinion/and it will bud
crank is separate from gears soo if it is leaking behind stator i dont see how it is a seal problem/that would be 2 stroke oil:)

im not 100 percent positive/but if you heard air coming behind flywheel/stator area that is the crank which is lubed by the 2 stroke oil . only...
it should not be gear oil in that area of the crank stator flywheel side...it is separate:)
you might have more then 1 issue

Any tricks on getting the nut off of the big pin so I can take my engine off?? It's stuck good. I've used pb blaster and breaker bar/ hammer. Doesn't move at all.

you mean swing arm bolt?
no tricks.bigger breaker bar/add a pipe to breaker bar
make sure you are twisting the nut / threaded side ..should be on foot shifter side/unless someone switched it lol
heat it up?

Someone switched it then. I just loaded the quad in the truck and will bring the whole thing to him. depending on how much it cost to make it run normal I decided have Ken work his magic on it I have a grand set aside and I want it to go into the blaster.
