I have a guy that wants to trade a 2 stroke Lawn Boy silver series for my small MIg welder . Just looking for input on how good or bad these push mowers are. I like the fact that it's a 2 stroke. Thanks .

I don't think you can find a better mower, we had one and used it for years. It was so simple, nothing could go wrong lol.

I don't know that I'd trade a mig welder for it, I'd want a little cash with it.

any idea what the mower is actually worth?

I'd love to have a 2 stroke mower....love doing yard work with a klotz burning weed eater...

the dude i bought my black bike from, I forget what his member name was on here,
had 4/5 of them sitting around when i picked up the blasty, he said he buys them used/broken then rebuilds/sales them and the landscaping/lawn care people go nuts over them
so, i'd say if the pro's are after them, they must be good

Yeah lawn boy seems to be the rolls royce of push mowers. I have a 4 stroke lawn boy with power drriven rear wheels. Id say its the best push mower I ever owned. Still looks like new. The paint or protective coating is really heavy duty and is easy to clean off. Cant go wrong with a lawn boy.

I gotta jump in on this one, if only because I work as a small engine mechanic and have seen so many different mowers.

Lawn-Boy makes good machines. They used to be owned by OMC, and were later bought out by Toro in the late '80's. That mower you're looking at getting is a Toro product. Under both owners, Lawn-Boy made good stuff. I like the Toro-built ones better. Toro, Airens, Snapper, Honda, and Lawn-Boy are your premium, per se, lawnmower brands. Everybody else is playing catch-up. Lol.

The only real problems Lawn-Boy mowers have (especially the later models) are ignition coil failures. They will just quit for no good reason and you have to buy another coil. Bad design, but not expensive to fix if it ever happens. Also, the Silver Series have steel (not magnesium) decks, so they aren't quite as sturdy as the premium Gold Series mowers Lawn-Boy put out. Still, if the machine runs well and looks good, I'd do the trade. The engines themselves are bulletproof as long as you run enough oil in the fuel mix.

Two quirks of Lawn Boy? Staggered-wheel decks. Strange looking, but they seem to work well. Also, the new models have plastic carburetors with a cork float and cork bowl gasket. I mean, the whole thing is plastic except for the throttle plate and jets. But they've been that way for years and work just fine...

You'll like the power, and they will envelop you in a cloud of smoke when first fired-up. I love 2-stroke lawnmowers.

Do they make a right bend pipe for it? Lol.
