short answer.. yes
long answer, no... heres why...
a lacquer is a strong coating that was derived from nature and not in a lab from scratch. this gives advantages and disadvantages. lacquers generally have a very short drying time but with that come a natural brittleness. if adequate (many many many) coats of it arent applied it would guaranteed start to flake and chip away from the paint. more so if the base paint was not thoroughly prepped. lacquer clear coats havent been used in automotive processes since the 1950's because of the undesired results and inadequate protection.
simply this.. if your on a budget but want a kick ass paint job, just save up... have a local body shop spray it with clear coat. dont spend hours/days prepping and painting your ride to then use an inferior top coat on it. imo
