in a small quiet town
so i want to get a new laptop cause this one has seen better days the hinges are busted, the screen flops around and the mouse pad is worn out..
so if lookng for the best laptop for the lowest cost.. let me know what you guys would get..

dells have great support, my brothers cd drive went out and they shipped a new one the next day. and when my hard drive went i got a new one next day... but my girlfriend has had a lot from problems with vista, stay away from that. HP's aren't bad either but i here they are hard to get patches and such. Apples are the sh*t but cost a left nut...
there are some computers at best buy for under 500.
thats just my 2 cents.

dell has good support? f*ck my laptop was just 3 months old and the hinge broke, they wouldn't replace it. then where the cord plugs into the motherboard fried a total of 5 times, dell told me to go f*ck myself. then the motherboard finally fried. so i took the laptop and used it as a ramp for my bike.
i will never get another dell anything.

hp has the worst tech support ive ever seen are computer has been randomly shutting off for a couple of months but they still cant figure out whats wrong

I've had my HP for 2 years now and my mom has had her HP for 3 years and neither has had any problems.. My neighbor has a Dell and it has been sent off to be fixed more then she has had it. I also know quit a few others that have had nothing but trouble with Dell.. I had a Dell desk top and also had nothing but trouble. As said before DON'T GET VISTA!!!! I don't think that will be a problem now though b/c everything is comming out with Windows 7 on it. Any other brand name I can't speek for but I love my HP and hate Dell.

From what ive heard talking to a couple of friends that got new laptops if you get a new one and it has Vista on it you get to upgrade to Windows 7 for free. So I would find out if its a free upgrade before you get one that has Vista. I def dont think I would go with a Dell again. Ive never had a laptop by them but I heard they werent any good. The wife is gonna get a new laptop and I think were gonna go with an HP or Compaq...

I read an article the other day about the most reliable laptops. Some researchers put all the brands through a bunch of tests. Toshiba and Asus were the best, while HP was the worst. Here's the link if you wanna read it yourself.
Asus and Toshiba ?most reliable? laptop brands - PC Hardware - News & Features - ITP.net

I have a Dell and i've never had any problems at all. Of course everyone is going to tell you different stories about why they like/dislike certain brands. Its another "to each his own" kinda thing lol

i had a dell a few years ago up until it got stolen when my house was robbed.
then i got a sony vaio, never had a problem with it. my mom had an acer and nothing but problems

my girl has a dell laptop now, new in april, no problems at all yet, but i do remember my first desktop was a compaq, what a piece of sh*t that was, nuthin but problems the whole time

thats funny mrs305 one of my lady friends just bought one of those an she loves it to death. shes always bringin it to my house to listen to music. i dont think hses had it long but she loves it. use it for all of her college classes

I just read an article somehwere that said wait until after Xmas for computers. The newer models start coming out after New years so the ones available today will be reduced in price very soon. That being said, I was on the Dell website and saw some great deals on special. Was ready to buy but decided to hold off.
