So I do a lot of night riding and I am thinking of getting and aftermarket l.e.d. light bar because the stock light is just not really good. The light bar I plan on getting is a 70 watt 7000 lumen light that attaches to the handle bars. I know the stock stator is only 55 watts so I plan on getting a new 75 watt stator and then add a rectifier but I am unsure if I will need a small battery also. I would prefer to not add a battery just to keep things simple but I will if it would be required. I've searched on here to try to answer this question but cant really find a whole lot. Thanks to any one that post back.

lighting coil and ignition coil are 2 seperate systems, one does not effect the other.
a 70 watt light will work just fine on a 75 watt lighting coil.
the only reason for a battery is to eliminate flicker at lower rpm's/idle, or to run the lights with the engine off.
i'm guessing no battery is needed to run dc lights, just the rectifier.

Yeah now I see what the battery is used for and I think im gonna get a smaller 45 watt light and not the bigger one, its easy to get carried away when you start looking at cool new stuff to get for the old blaster.
