hey guys im new here... so im not to sure how this wors but i have a 1996 yamaha blaster it was bored once over by preious owner. ive owend it for about 3 months. however its been sittin seen late december because i was hearing a knocking sound coming from top end.. my buddy cam out today and told me it was fine to ride.. is it ok to ride or wat?

If the knocking is noticable then something is probably wrong. Two strokes are known for being kinda noisy though, but if there is a distinct knock then it could be something like piston slap, or many other things.

u might have too much slop in the area between the pistin and the head, i bought mine like that, had to rebuild it, go to a dealer and have them check, prolly the safest route.

check the timing chain

If you are kidding that aint right bro. This guy is asking a question for our help not our jokes.......

First off welcome to the site and has it sounded the same since you got it or is it a new sound too you?
If possible give us a sound clip.

Next what kind of gas are you using since you got it.

any chance you can post a vid so we can hear it? is it a knock or more of a rattle? air cooled motors are quite noisy, just look up a blaster on youtube and listen to it and compare.

i had the same problem with my 2001 blaster if it aint ur top end its your crank mine had alot of side to side play and some up and down play but if u take ur top end off which is like 8 bolts check ur crank and see if there up and down play if so that could be your problem

you should take the left side cover off grab the flywheel and push-pull, tug up and down feeling for ANY play and then turn the flywheel by hand, when the piston reaches the top of the stroke twist the flywheel counter clockwise and then clockwise back and forth quickly listen/ feel for clunking.

Checking compression is a good idea as well
