kickstart problems

i just bought a knew kickstart gear and all that stuff and i dont know what way the clip should be facing because somtimes the kick start will catch and somtimes it wont and i think the clip is the problem. please help

When I put the clip in the whole it pops back out when u kickstart it

glad it worked out for u. I:I when i had this problem the spring would snap back and tore my new gasket
