kicker return spring bent ?

last week i thought my kicker spring broke. i finally got around to taking it apart. i had the side cover off about 50+ kicks ago. when i took the cover off i thought for sure i was going to find a broken spring. that was not the case. the spring was bent where it went into the hole that holds it into the case. why would it bend ? u had a whole another kicker spring and gear Assembly so i installed that. all seems well but WHY would that spring bend. it was not totally bent but i guess it bent enough to pop out of the hole. ? :-/

it just does........ they get worn out i guess. the side cover holds the spring in the hole and over time they can bend thenselves out. you can get just the spring for like 7 bucks i have bought a few of them.

metal fatigue. its passed its elastic limit and became platic and deformed.

i had one go on me and the tiny piece of the spring that holds into the hole broke off, floated around and punched a hairline crack in the clutch cover, some JBweld and a new spring fixed it right up
