could not get the blaster running for a while so i took off the carb cleaned it nothing. checked everything nothing. i was going to buy reeds from slickerthanyou but my parents wanted it running first. i was looking through pm's and saw the ones to him regarding things with the reeds. it hit me. maybe i bent a reed? or something else? so i took off the intake. and before i even took out the reeds i saw it. one reed ripped completely out and was just sitting there. thank god it had not gone into the motor. but figures i pass up on a sweet offer and it turns out to be the part i needed

i think if the reeds fall inside the crank itll run like sh*t but eventually itll disintegrate from the friction of motor running. my opinion u'll change the reeds and have to do alot of oil changes but could run like sh*t for awhile but i dont think serious damage will b done since its just plastic or carbin. just my opinion i could be wrong.

true, but it could also break and wear gears and bearings

i lost a reed into my '96 blaster once, it ran like a top for another 5/6 years and sold it still running,

as for passin up slicks deal....
those who hesitate........................mastrubate !!!!!!!

what happends if a reed goes in the motor?

It can ruin the crank bearings, then possibly fry the cylinder rings/piston. You have to understand, engines move at INCREDIBLE speeds. Here is an example......at 1000RPM......idle speed. Multiple this by 9 when you are going full throttle on your Blaster and imagine what will happen when a foreign object is thrown in there.

thats freaking cool

Yes if the screws fall in like vforce2 cage has, u have a serious problem. And that's what I have. Whenever I work on my bike which is like everyday or when I'm around the intake I check the reed cage to make sure everything is tight and good. I thought of puttin thread lock on the screws on the cage but gas would prolly kill it neway. But I still think if a reed falls in nothin serious could happen. Especially at high rpm it'll chew all that fiber and plastic or carbon out and spit it out of the pipe. May have sum gray smoke. For awhile lol.. but what do I kno?? Ima a nOOoB!

loctite them screws anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I kno! I was just thinking that. Better safe than sorry. I'm gonna change mytop end gaskets when they come in the mail not there's anything wrong only exhaust header gasket leak but I figure I change it anyway since its a top end kit and when I do that ima locktite the reed cage. Lol

I was afraid some1 would say that... leak down test.. hmmm.. I guess I have to rent 1. I watcged the vid on how to do that but a site charges 15 to rent and a 70 deposit I think. I think I read sumwhere where I can make my own?? Sry for the thread jack I have a bad habbit of doing that. Hehe

Yea I had a VF2 in my Blaster, and swapped in a ported stock cage with Boyesen carbon fiber reeds and loctited the screws in. I can't even remember why I took the VF2's out though...we are talking 7ish years ago. :-/ I still have the VF2s and only had them in there for like 3 hours of riding. 8-|
