i dont know for sure if someone on here has done the swap before or not... think this is the motor i am putting in frame for my build, found one for a good price and i know its a good strong 2 stroke air cooled motor but heard about the vibration it causes, thats my only worry as i wont be doing the welding since i dont have a welder.... this is my first option, was also thinkin of the yz250, ktm 300, hond 250r- only thing is its a honda in a yama frame....any ideas are welcome also, but the it400/yz400 is high on the list...

honda 250r would be nothing to be ashamed off.. HUGE after market for the 250r.. anyhting from a mx rippin 265 or 295 motor.. or aarm ripping 350 power valve mx/drag/ flat track motor.. even a straight line killer 500 saber.. or puma set up.. aka banshee killers...

im pretty sure the it400 is a yz400 but with a lighting coil... and vids you can have the flywheel balanced /counter balaned to kill the vids

yeah its a 1976, im looking at a couple motors, i just don want it to look like a blaster and have honda on the side.... i want it to be a sleeper so i am trying to keep it in the yama family, and yeah it is alot of the parts are interchangeable, the transmisson is different and gears are diff,as i have found out...

fill the honda stamp on the side covers :) any liquid cooled motor is gonna stick out... a air coole dmotor wont... hell a air cooled 250r trike motor would be a handfull and a half in a blaster.. my 290 bb stock carb'd 82 would run side by side with piped raptors... thats with a baby 28mm carb... slap a cr250 36 on there and ohhhhh shaaat

truth is i will know its a honda, but it has a high aftermarket product line.....lol no offense im a yama guy when it comes to powersports, motorcycles, my 600rr all the way....

Have you thought of a WR 250 swap???? The WR250 motor has a wide range 5 speed tran and all the stuff for lights and is probably a better woods motor then the YZ motor....

oh if i do ken is the first place it goes before it even sees the frame, might even have it drop shipped to him, save on shipping, if i decide on this one, its paulie who has the it400 in his blaster

i have thought of a lot of motors and yes the wr250 was there, it is a lot of finding the "one" if u guys keep ur eyes open let me know if u find something in ur area

there is a wr500 for sale in wi.. complete bike.. running riding :D

haha, nah i just need a motor, be a good project but i am in wa,i mean there are so many good choices for so many power house plants to dump in it. choices choices....i think it will be between the yz250 or the 400...

yeah but my wife will be riding this one also...having to come and get it, yes it is sexy...ooooh the possibilities....nope cant do it...sh*t, that would be a mother stuffing in a blaster frame though, def need some reinforcing, no welder, i have to pay someone to weld my sh*t, lol

Time to buy a welderI:I .I vote for the IT400. My other choice would be the KTM 300. An older air cooled one, lol, don't know why. If I was doing a swap I wouldn't go less than 300cc,jmho. Would almost be a shame to tear up that 500 ,it's a very nice looking bike. BTW, you can get a Lincoln "Tombstone" welder for $75-100 , hook it to dryer circut ,done. Highly doubt you'll ever have a need to turn it all the way up.
