im looking to get a blaster, my friend has a 99, mint condition, it has a full toomey racing pipe, good plastics, almost new brakes all around, brand new maxxis razr tires all around, nerf bars, and the engine was rebuilt about a month ago. he will sell it to me for 1300$. all i want to know if it is a good deal, if not, what is?

Is he a knowledgeable person; did he jet for the mods? Does he have the title? Do you know if he beat on it? Was it broke in after rebuild? Depending on the answers to those questions, I'd offer him $900-$1,300.

thanks for the opinions, he didn't jet after the pipe, his cousin did everything for him, broke it in properly, he originally wanted 1500 but we agreed on 1300, what can happen without jetting after the pipe?

i will get a jet as soon as i get the bike, but him not jetting it couldn't have hurt anything rite?

There will only be harm done if he has rode it enough to get it hot. If you don't rejet for the pipe, it will become extremely lean and fry the topend. Seized pistons are NOT fun to deal with.

Before you get it see what size main jet is in there with a toomey it should be some where around a 310 if not buy some there only like 3 or 4 bucks and we can talk you through everything get it and go from there

alright, sounds good, im going to try and find out tonight, if not ill get back to you tomorrow, thanks for the help

It better be real mint for 1300....I think that's a little steep...specially us not knowing background on rebuild n you/him not knowing if it was jetted properly....

PICS:) would be nice like mentioned above. check the jetting. 310 should be right for the pipe. im not a expert at jetting so maybe some experts will come and tell you what to look for. was it bored? whats the bore? tittle? whats the compression if he ran it lean due to improper jetting it could have low compression? many thing to look for.

If it has been jetted on the lean side there could possibly be some damage, if it rides with no bogs and no lack of power it may be all right.

A compression test will point to any damage if any, or if he will let you, get a look up the exhaust port (but thats a big ask )

im trying to get pictures and more info now, if he doesn't get back to me tonight i will post them up tomorrow. i will keep you guys posted

alright very interested in what you got. just dont want you to get ripped off like i did. i basically thought i was buying a fully rebuilt quad and well it was all stock and half blown up. my freinds dad is a dick. never gave him another dime after it blew up.

okay good, i dont want to get ripped off either haha. but i hope everything works out and i get it, i rode it the other day and their was no bog at all, spun corners and the front wheels easily came up, it was my first time on a 2 stroke, i now realize how much quicker they are than 4 strokes.
