im stumped

ok i put my motor back together and i tried to kickstart it and every other time i kick it it feels like it doesent catch the gear to spin the crank iv took it apart and put it back toghter about 5 or 6 times and i cant get it fixed any ideas and it worked fine befor i split the cases

sounds like your kickstarter spring is out of place. sure you have it right?

hmmmm. looks right. try turning it over with the kicker while the cover is off. see what is happening. or in this case not happening. something might not be working correctly on the kicker gear

Is the gear on the kicker shaft free to slide eaisly on the bendix, the spiral part of the shaft, or could it be binding?

Looks pretty dry in there, have you had oil in it yet?

One little bit of fluff from a rag can stop the kicker gear from migrating up a dry shaft.

ok i fixed it the little clip came off that goes on the gear yesterday and it was too lose and i took some vise grips and crinched it down and it works great now

It could pay to order another clip, they do not take too kindly to a little crinching, never seem to be reliable after the vice grip treatment.
