i got this blaster and its driving me crazy trying to get it started.

so far i :

installed new top end gaskets
new spark plug
new carb rebuild kit
checked the stator
checked the coil

i can get a little semi start with starting fluid and when i pull it down the block with a truck.

the TORS system is unplugged*
and when i plug in the cdi box i get no spark (tried 2)
and i read somewhere that i can run without them plugged in.

what do you guys think? i spent about 30 hours on this thing so far with no luck.. im hoping its something stupid

any help would be GreatLy appreciated!!!!

Well, what I wouldnt do is keep pulling down the road. If it is not running you are not really pulling in oil for the motor which could lead to cyl scarring. You said when you plug in the cdi you do not get spark, does that mean when it is unplugged you do? Just looking for details to help ya.

hes getting at least some spark if it will start with starting fluid right? so to me sounds like your motor isn't getting any fuel. (correct me if im wrong)
see if youre getting fuel to your carb, if youre not its probably your fuel line or your float valve. if your are geting fuel into the carb, see if its flowing out of the carb as well.

stick a screw diver into the spark plug plug, and put the screwdriver to the spark plug or to the cylinder head to see if your getting spark.

You need three things to get a two stroke to run.
Fuel, Compression, Spark

If your getting spark, you now lead onto into compression, if your compression is good, then go onto fuel. If your not getting fuel then thats your problem.

ok so yesterday i replaced the whole wire harness, and i completely removed the tors system. but are there any wires that need to be jumped after removing it?

2nd- i called the dealer and told the guys my problem.. they said if im getting spark then its not the stator (also checked it with a voltmeter) and they said it has to be the carb.

-even thoough i did a fresh carb rebuild the day before, i swapped the carb out and put in a 100% good carb off a friends blaster.
....still same problem.

-i get spark
-it gets a start from carb cleaner for 2 seconds, backfires and shuts down

so far this is what ive done.

-new plug
-replaced the wire harness
-replaced the computer
-replaced the coil
-checked stator
-eliminated the tors
-rebuilt the carb AND tried a 100% good carb.
-top end gaskets

can anyone think of anything else???

Actually you need four thing you forgot timing

woodruff keys seem to be a common problem on blasters. the woodruff key holds the flywheel in place on the crankshaft and when it shears it allows the flywheel to shift on the crank which causes the spark to be out of time. the woodruff key is a really cheap part to fix but unfortunantly it requires a special tool to remove the flywheel I believe the the key will run you about 10-20cents the tool on the other hand is about 20 bucks you'll have to get both at a dealer

i agree^^..also makesure ur fuel is on..=P...just sayin..ive done that b4

been super pissed that it wont start..for like 45 mins then see oh sh*t gas is off...lol

hey guys i actually bought a woodruff key yesterday but they didnt tell me i needed the tool.. so im stuck til at least tuesday.. that part was .89cents from a yamaha dealer btw.

hopefully this is the problem.

Im sure thats what it is mine did the same thing..Sheared the woodruff key off which screws witht the timing..If your waiting for the flywheel puller make sure you use an Impact gun to take it off..Without impact i wasnt able to do it but it came right off..When you go to replace new woodruff key have the shaft slot facing up so wood ruff key is standing up and use a little bit of grease to hold in place and line up slot on the flywheel and gently slide on..Good Luck!!Kurt

wait ruthless, if it will crank with starting fluid, as he said, would that mean the timing is right???

lmao at 02blueblaster XD
No, starting fluid is much more volatile than standard 2-stroke fuel and dosn't require the timing to be perfect to get it to start but it wouldnt make any power. By the way I hear you should never use starting fluid on 2-stroke something about it not having any oil in it and it could cause damage???

don't laugh too hard I have a horrible habit of doing the same thing. I end up sitting on it thinking what the heck is wrong with my bike then I look down and realize its not the bike its the jackass riding it:">
